Fiery Pawn

2nd-level attack

Activation Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You create a construct of flames that appears in an unoccupied square of your choice within range and lasts for the duration or until you trigger this power again. Any creature that ends its turn within 5 feet of the fiery pawn must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 fire damage.

As a bonus action, you can move the fiery pawn up to 20 feet in any direction and direct the pawn to make a melee attack using your a melee power attack against a creature within 5 feet of itself. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 + your power ability modifier fire damage.

The fiery pawn is made of lapping flames, but can otherwise appear as you wish. It might look like a ball of fire, a flaming hound, a fiery vortex, a gleaming sword, or a burning chess piece, but it will be roughly the size of a Small or Medium creature. It ignites flammable objects not being worn or carried, and it sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.

At Higher Levels. When you activate this power using a power slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every two slot levels above the 2nd.

Alternately you can create and control a second fiery pawn instead of gaining an extra dice.
